Word of Life Hungary (http://www.eletszava.org/en/) was founded in 1989. Their mission is the evangelism and discipleship of the youth of Hungary and Central Europe through means consistent with the Bible, for the building up and strengthening of the Church of Jesus Christ - with excellence, with enthusiasm, with integrity, and with a servant's heart.

WOL’s summer English camp is a key component of their work and our team will work there from July 7-20. The purpose is that the kids would have a chance to hear English from native speakers and personal interaction to reach them with the Gospel.

We Are Home After A Fantastic Trip!

The Hungary Team is back in the USA!
Thank you for your prayers, support, and encouragement.

Our time at the camps were blessed by the Lord in so many ways. God gave us many opportunities to love and encourage the kids as well as several of the support staff. We also were given so much love. It is a humbling experience to have these kids want to be with you even though you cannot communicate in their language. We are ready to return!

Our team report will be in Heritage Hall on August 11 after the 2nd service (1:00 p.m.).  You may purchase your lunch and come to Heritage Hall to eat it while we give the presentation. We will provide desserts.

Seems like we only have time to send a few pictures.  We will add more of a report later.  In the meantime, enjoy seeing what we have been up to in the Teen Camp in the #3 album.

Review of Our First Week

Our first week of Children’s Camp is now over. Kevin, Cheronne and Chandler are back in the US and the Moore family has joined the team for Teen Week at Camp.

On Sunday July 7th the children started to arrive for camp; those interested in learning English were tested and placed in either a Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced group.

Cheronne, Chandler and Hannah (not from FBA) were assigned to the beginners.  Janelle, Amanda and Regan were assigned to one of the intermediate groups and Valerie was placed with Tom and Mary (Tom and Mary are not from FBA) to teach the advanced group.

If we had anticipated, planned for, imagined, guessed, prayed for or tried to visualize what God had in store for us this week, the gap between what we thought and what we experienced was very wide.  God is awesome and we just praise and give glory to our God who gives “more than you can ask or think”.

The children were a joy to work with.  They had personality, charm, and humor and were ready to soak up all we had to offer.  From the beginners who were taught Bible phrases such as “God loves me” to the advanced who were required to memorize short Bible verses in English and compete against each other, all were engaged and engaging and just thrilled to be learning English.  In one class after a lesson was given on money, the question was raised “How many dollars do you think it would take to get to heaven” (this class had an interpreter) – The answer opened the door to talk about the fact that Jesus paid the full price and there was no need for us to pay anything to get to heaven.

Kevin and David coached soccer.  The children were filled with enthusiasm and gave the game their all.  They are a lesson in dedication and passion.  The fact that they were interacting with Americans added to their delight and enjoyment of the sessions. This was a great week and one which will not be soon forgotten.

We showed up and God poured us all out a blessing.  Give thanks unto the Lord for He is good.

Please continue to pray for the members of the team who remain in Hungary.

The first time the entire team was together
was the weekend in the middle of the trip.

Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful mission trip.  Our flight over was uneventful and I thank God for His protection.  I was full of excitement for this is the first time my entire family has been able to serve on a mission trip together.  To God I give all the glory.  Upon arrival in Budapest, we were greeted warmly by Ildeko (Bela's wife)...  She has been a wonderful hostess inspite of her many responsibilities.  The Word of Life property is impressive and the castle is beautiful.  It is great to see how committed the counselors are to the mission. I can see God at work all around us!   They do whatever is needed in order to provide a place where teenagers can learn about Him.  Sometimes all a teen needs is for someone to listen. The camp counselors are an asset to the ministry. Teaching English with Efrim and Joi has proven to be fun.  Our students appear to be enjoying themselves, but not nearly as much as I am.
